Hello! I’m a human geographer and I draw on postcolonial discourse to explore human-environment relations. I have a particular interest in development in disaster-affected contexts, everyday lived experiences of disasters, aid, research methods and ethics, and the media representation of disasters.
I regularly work with artists to produce respectful, nuanced and creative representations of the people I speak to in my research.
I’m a Vice Chancellor’s Fellow at RMIT University. Prior to this I was lecturer at The University of Manchester (2015-2020). I’m co-editor for the Journal of Humanitarian Affairs
