About Me

I’m a Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellow at RMIT University in Melbourne. My research is interdisciplinary, drawing on development geography, social anthropology, postcolonial studies and media sociology. I explore the media representations and everyday lived experiences of people affected by disasters – predominantly in Latin America using a range of social science research methods.

I’m passionate about collaborating with artists to communicate my research in engaging, thoughtful and socially responsible ways.

I’m on the editorial board for the Journal of Humanitarian Affairs, and am a Fellow of the Humanitarian Innovation Initiative at Brown University, U.S.A.
