Hello! I’m a Vice Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at RMIT University, Melbourne. I explore human-environment relations, with a particular interest in everyday humanitarianism, everyday lived experiences of people affected by disasters and their representation in media. I draw on development geography, social anthropology, postcolonial studies and media sociology.
I’m passionate about communicating my research in creative, engaging and socially responsible ways.
Between 2015 and 2020 I was Lecturer in the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute at the University of Manchester. I’m on the editorial board for the Journal of Humanitarian Affairs, and am a Fellow of the Humanitarian Innovation Initiative at Brown University, U.S.A.
