Hello! I’m a feminist disaster geographer based at Monash University.
My research often draws on postcolonialism to understand how disasters are experienced and navigated across different scales – with a geographical focus on small islands. This agenda is pursued across three areas:
1. How families encounter disasters during their everyday lives.
2. The changing geographies of development aid and its relations with resilience, reparative politics and development imaginaries.
3. Creative research methods.
I’m a founding editor of the Journal of Humanitarian Affairs, an Editorial board member of the Journal of Disaster Studies, and an Honorary Research Fellow of the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester.
