Hello! I am a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at Monash University.
My research sits in the broad field of critical disaster geographies and seeks to understand how disasters are experienced, navigated and tackled across different scales – with a geographical focus on small islands. This agenda is pursued across three areas:
1. How households encounter disasters during their everyday lives.
2. The changing geographies of development aid and its relations with reparative politics and development imaginaries.
3. The theorisation and production of creative research outputs.
I’m a founding editor of the Journal of Humanitarian Affairs, an Editorial board member of the Journal of Disaster Studies, and an Honorary Research Fellow of the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester.
